GALLIPOLIS, Ohio — Four inmates overpowered two female guards Sunday morning and escaped from a jail in southern Ohio.

Three of the four inmates were captured early Monday morning in Cary, North Carolina, according to WCMH Channel 4. One of the inmates remains at-large.

Authorities say Brynn K. Martin, 40, Christopher M. Clemente, 24, Troy R. McDaniel Jr., 30, and Lawrence R. Lee III, 29, used a homemade weapon to overpower the guards at about 12:14 a.m. Sunday. WCMH Channel 4 reports a vehicle used in the escape was found by authorities in Pennsylvania.

The Gallia County Sheriff’s Department says Martin was in jail for breaking and entering, receiving stolen property, two counts of failure to appear, and escape. Clemente has two indictments for complicity to trafficking in drugs, McDaniel is charged with failure to appear in connection with non-support of dependents, and Lee is charged with assault, identity fraud, and obstructing official business.

WBNS reports police believed Clemente was in the area of Greensburg, Pa., which is southeast of Pittsburgh. A mall outside of Greensburg was evacuated Sunday afternoon because police believed Clemente was nearby, WBNS reports.

Authorities say anyone with information should call 911.
